Korčula Island is one of the greenest islands in the Adriatic Sea. It is also one of the most popular travel destinations in this part of Croatia. As with most Croatian islands, the first settlers were the Greeks, who named it "Korkyra Melaina" or "Black Corfu" due to its dark and densely forested appearance. The island is rich in art, culture, and beautiful nature. The old town of Korčula is a typical medieval Dalmatian town, with round defensive walls, towers, and a cluster of red-roofed houses. It is believed that Marco Polo, the famous world traveler and writer, was born here. His supposed birthplace in the old town has been transformed into a Marco Polo museum.

Today, your route will take you to the jewels of Dubrovnik’s waters—the magical Elaphite Islands and the island of Mljet. The Elaphite Islands are a small archipelago located northwest of Dubrovnik. The islands became part of the Republic of Dubrovnik in the 14th century, contributing to its prosperity and decline, which led to many villages being abandoned in the mid-18th century. Today, only three of the islands are inhabited—Kolocep, Lopud, and Sipan. The islands are covered in Mediterranean and subtropical vegetation, and besides their natural beauty, they were the favorite vacation spots of Dubrovnik's noble families. Mljet is the southernmost and easternmost of the larger Adriatic islands in the Dalmatian region of Croatia. Few spots in the Mediterranean are as untouched by human influence as Mljet. It boasts one of the last intact Mediterranean forests and the largest coral reef in the Mediterranean.
